At long last we can begin: first five minutes of the fifth season of Stranger Things unveiled.
The concluding installment of the streaming giant's supernatural smash hit the hit series is poised to be one of the biggest releases of 2024. The initial episodes airs on November 27, but a sneak peek of the eerie initial moments has been made public on the internet.
The Crawl: A Return to the show's origins
The segment, titled the prologue, transports viewers to the origins of the series in 1983, after the loss of the young character.
"Do I remain or leave?" Will sings while attempting to remain composed in the Upside Down.
Things quickly become horrifying when a monstrous creature appears and drags the character to the domain of Vecna. "At long last, our work can start," he tells the youth as propelling a tendril down his throat. "You and I, we are going to do truly magnificent deeds together."
Air Dates and Theater Showings
The second part of the ultimate installment is scheduled to premiere on the day after Christmas, with the last chapter available on January 1 – which will also be shown in certain movie theaters.
Plot Summary
The synopsis reads: "The season of that year. The setting is scarred by the emergence of the Rifts, and the main characters come together by one objective: hunt down and destroy Vecna. But he has vanished – his location and plans unclear. Adding to the quest, officials has placed Hawkins under strict lockdown and intensified the pursuit for the character, pushing her into seclusion. While the anniversary of the event draws near, so does a heavy, known fear. The final battle is looming – and with it, a malevolence stronger and more lethal than anything else they have encountered previously. To conclude this terror, they'll need everyone – the full party – side by side, one last time."
Production Insights
The unexpected preview was posted to YouTube following the show's Hollywood event a few days ago, featuring cast members such as Millie Bobby Brown and another key actor.
"The scale of this installment is larger … It features heightened thrills and increased visual effects, yet it is additionally easily the most emotional part as it's the end of the journey for the entire cast," the show's executive producer, commented about the final episodes.
His brother and co-creator, stated: "Releasing it for audiences is anxiety-inducing, yet we feel equipped to present it at last."
