Canada's Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Showdown Versus Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder was instrumental for the Houston Astros winning the championship in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their maiden championship series after 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the final game seven of the ALCS.

Trailing 3-1, the star outfielder delivered a three-run homer in the seventh frame, propelling the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a four games to three victory in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, who are the current crown, in the upcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for our team, the city, the nation," Springer stated, a star of the Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "It's truly an amazing experience."

The veteran has now hit 23 total post-season home runs, placing him third all-time behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).

"There's probably not another person in the world that I want up in that situation besides him with his October magic," noted Schneider.

Seattle's team, after leading the early in the series, are still the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a Fall Classic.

Wilson stated "without a doubt that it's going to sting" following his side's defeat at Rogers Centre, but praised their efforts in the campaign.

"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of this one," he added.

Toronto secured the title on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will welcome the Dodgers in the opener on Friday.
