Paceman Gus Atkinson Exacerbates England's Fitness Worries.
'Serious blow' for the English camp after Atkinson is forced off due to a hamstring issue.
The pace bowler added to the injury concerns plaguing England after leaving the field during Saturday's play of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia.
Atkinson experienced discomfort in his left leg immediately following a delivery that he bowled on Saturday.
Team management stated Atkinson reported "discomfort" and would spend time off the field to undergo evaluation "during the day".
The concluding match in this Ashes battle at the SCG begins on Sunday, 4 January.
The visitors have already lost strike bowlers Mark Wood to a knee injury and another paceman because of a side injury during this series.
Matthew Fisher was brought into the squad as injury reinforcement.
His form was underwhelming early in the series, taking just a handful of scalps.
He was omitted of the third Test, then recalled for the Melbourne Test in the playing XI.
The county bowler showed better form in Melbourne, bagging two scalps during the host's first knock, then making 28 as a batsman being one of only three English batsmen to get into double digits.
After bowling one over in Australia's second innings, he returned for the second day's play and dismissed the nightwatchman edging to the keeper.
Unfortunately, towards the conclusion of his spell, he sent down a change of pace to Travis Head and immediately felt his left hamstring.
Atkinson was recalled for the Melbourne match having missed the Adelaide game.
