The sport of boxing has been a significant decline this period, with a scarcity of big events and markedly reduced engaging contests than normal. Parker, set to be 34 in January, said: “It's win or go home. I am not focused on a loss. I have respect for my rival and what he has done and the way he's trained for this bout. But I am on a different level and I am going to show it on fight night.”

Wardley, approaching 31, and he said: “It is a massive night for the two of us. It is clearly the most significant bout of my professional life and the greatest challenge I've faced. Certainly not is he an senior boxer but he has been in the game for a significant time and had some heavy fights. I've also endured brutal fights and I understand they take a toll. He has been in a significantly more of those compared to me.”
