Preview the Remastered Legendary Journey: This Complimentary Trial for Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Lands Soon.
Players eagerly awaiting the launch of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined can get a head start much longer. An free-to-play playable preview will become available on Jan. 7, granting a substantial taste into the game's beginning segments. Critically, all progress achieved within this demo can be transferred directly into the main game upon its February launch.
Beyond Just a Straightforward Re-release: A Thorough Reimagining
This project is a from-scratch re-envisioning of the landmark 2000 JRPG, originally titled Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a notable step away from other Dragon Quest remakes, such as the previously launched HD-2D versions, this reimagining utilizes a charming three-dimensional visual presentation. The world are designed to resemble detailed dioramas, with party members featuring a delightful chibi-esque appearance.
"Even with the 3DS remake, the narrative was still notoriously extended. So we reached a determination that we wanted to tighten the story, [and] make this experience for modern gamers."
Major Mechanical Improvements & Modernizations
Square Enix have implemented a host of changes to refresh the classic experience. These include:
- Expedited Field Battles: Similar to contemporary RPGs, weaker foes can now be defeated directly on the exploration screen eliminating the need for initiating a separate traditional battle sequence.
- Variable Combat Pace: Players can speed up battle sequences to rapidly power through less challenging encounters.
- New Job System: A completely new vocation has been created for this reimagining. Furthermore, characters gain the capacity to take on a second job, significantly expanding customization depth.
Such refinements are designed to mitigate a key the original title's most noted points of feedback: its considerable playtime. The original adventure could easily take over 100 hours to see through. This reimagined edition was specifically structured to enhance progression and cut down on any repetition.
