Convicted music executive Sean "Diddy" Combs has written a message to the court official handling his criminal trial, seeking leniency during his court judgment on Friday and attributing his former conduct on drug addiction.

In the lengthy missive, he apologises "for all of the hurt and pain that I have caused" and asserts that he has been reformed after serving 13 months in a correctional institution.

The letter on Thursday comes shortly prior to his sentencing hearing at 10:00 ET (15:00GMT) on Friday.

In July, he was convicted of two prostitution charges and now might be sentenced to up to 20 years in detention. Legal authorities are requesting a punishment of at least 11 years, but Combs' attorneys are petitioning that he be freed later this month.

Apology to Ex-Girlfriend

In his personal appeal to the presiding judge, Combs expresses remorse for assaulting his ex-girlfriend, singer Casandra Ventura, stating: "I completely lost control".

"I'm sorry for that and always will be," he adds. "My domestic violence will always be heavy burden that I will have to enduringly shoulder."

He also apologies to an anonymous woman who spoke under oath during the trial under the name "Jane" and says he became "lost in the drugs and the excess".

"I deviated from my path," he penned. "My downfall was rooted in my selfishness. I have been reduced and devastated to my foundation."

Complainants' Fears

Combs' those who brought charges have also written to the presiding officer, detailing how he used his authority and status to damage their wellbeing, and their concerns that he would attempt retaliation if set loose.

"I am so frightened that if he walks free, his first actions will be swift retribution towards me and others who came forward," wrote Ms Ventura.

She continued that she is convinced he deserves a extended incarceration, declaring: "He has no inclination to improve or becoming better. He will always be the same cruel, power-hungry, manipulative man that he is."

Personal Change Arguments

In his personal statement, Combs explains instructing a course to fellow inmates on "what I did to become a successful business man", characterizing himself as a reformed character who is now abstinent for the first time in 25 years.

"The person I used to be ceased to exist in prison and transformed individual was reborn," he states.

Combs continues to request compassion from the court, "not only for my benefit, but for the benefit of my children". He asked the court to take into account his seven children, and his elderly parent who experienced brain surgery.

He comments that the court official might be tempted to make an example out of him and instead requests that he be made an example of "what a individual can do if given a chance at rehabilitation".

Legal Proceedings

Combs is also scheduled to address in the courtroom on Friday before the court official issues his sentence. Multiple attorneys are also expected to make statements, and his defence team also intends to present a recorded presentation. It's unknown what the footage may contain.

In July, a court panel acquitted him of the most severe charges: racketeering and commercial sexual exploitation - which could have caused him spending the rest of his life behind bars. He was convicted of two charges of facilitating prostitution-related travel.

Legal authorities say he is "unrepentant" and contended the rapper should undergo a minimum of 11 years in prison.

"The individual on trial attempts to reframe years of mistreatment as simply the function of equally damaging partnerships," government attorneys expressed in a 29 September filing. "But there is no reciprocity about a association where a single party wields total authority and the other party becomes injured and battered."
