This approach enabled to introduce audiences not just the famous founders of that era but also to “dozens of others essential to the narrative, numerous individuals never even had a portrait painted.

The filmmaker also explored his particular enthusiasm for geography and cartography. “I love maps,” he notes, “with greater cartographic content in this project compared to previous works I’ve done combined.”

International Impact

Filmmakers captured footage at nearly a hundred historical locations across North America and British sites to document environmental context and partnered extensively with living history participants.
