The Streaming Platform to Bring a Far Cry TV Series from the Producers of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest action-packed game that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and debuted back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for delighting in violence and madness with the same excitement, all while presenting captivating, ideologically themed tales. No wonder then that FX's decision for a Far Cry limited-run show pulled in two producers whose projects have embodied all of those elements.

About the Series

Based on Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' style by introducing a fresh setting and ensemble in subsequent series.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our partners at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the creator.

“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally accommodating, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX team constantly supports me with their steady confidence and support.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every instalment is a interpretation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To produce a large-scale action show that can shift from season to season, while always examining the essence of society through this multifaceted and unpredictable viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to work with Rob and present our common bold, visionary approach to the audience.”

A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
